I am writing a brief message to Kit who has got back from vacation. I want to start the message with the following :

Hi Kit,

Trust you had a nice holiday/ break.

Is the above writing OK?

Yes, it would be fine in an email context, but, in a more formal letter, I would have used "I trust...."

I would say "I hope you had" instead of "I trust you had."
