Hello

Is the following sentence grammatically correct?

"Todd takes the incandescent light and aims it directly into Jim's eyes."

Thanks

What do you mean by "incandescent light"? Why not just use "light" or "torch" or similar?

Dear emsr2d2:

First of all, thanks for your answer.

I want to refer to a special bright (red, blue, or green) light for theatrical plays or shows, which is capable of partially blind a person if pointed directly. Although no permanent effects on vision of the person to whom it is aimed.

Thanks!

It doesn't sound right. An incandescent light radiates in all directions, unless it is confined within some apparatus (like a torch, as ems says). How about calling it a stage light?

That could be a spotlight. I've had a stage spotlight aimed straight in my face once or twice and I couldn't see a thing!
