Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

Here is a range of tasks based on real-life situations that will give you the confidence to tackle anything.

to tackle anything = to cope with every situation

Thanks for your efforts.

Regards,

V.

Not a teacher.

Yes, you are correct. Think about American football. Some of those players are very large. If you are not afraid to tackle anything, then you are fearless and prepared to handle whatever comes your way.

You are perfectly right, It can be used figuratively to mean: try to deal with a task or problem and in sporting sense it means: to confront an opponent with a difficult proposition.
