In the following sentence I wrote, I am not sure if I have used the idea of praying correctly.
She was overcome by the urge to pray that may a thousand forests cover the earth.

Did she actually pray for that? Or did she just feel very strongly like praying for that?

Either way, it isn't grammatical.

She was overcome by the urge to pray, "May a thousand forests cover the earth!"
She was overcome by the urge to pray that a thousand forests would cover the earth.

These are grammatical but "overcome by the urge to pray" still sounds just a little unusual, because being overcome by the urge to pray usually is followed by prayer. It doesn't take much time to form a quick prayer in your mind.

(And I'm pretty sure we have well over a thousand forests already!)
