I would like to ask you if it is possible to express "I was permitted to work as an X-ray technician" as "I was admitted to working in the position of an X-ray technician".

My second question is:

Is "I was admitted to working in the position of an X-ray technician" properly formulated or should it be "I was admitted to work in the position of an X-ray technician"?

The pattern, in my opinion, is that "admitted" - "permitted to join an organisation" - is usually followed by a noun, so my conclusion is that "admitted" may be followed by "-ing form".

None of these sound right.
If you were "permitted" it sounds like you didn't have the credentials, but you were allowed to anyway.

I was hired as an x-ray technician.
I was hired for the position of x-ray technician.
