Friends, in an electronics conversation with my pal, who told me I've selected red color instead of pink, I want to say this sentence but confuse between words think and thought. Here is the sentence.

Sentence:" I thought/think I've selected light pink color".

I want to go with "thought" but would use it only after I get satisfied it's more appropriate than think. So friend please provide your valuable inputs/help.

Thanks

The present perfect "I've selected light pink color" refers to a present situation. It's a present tense. So you can't use 'thought' for it.

"I think I've selected a light pink color". - present
"I thought I selected a light pink color" - past
"I thought I had selected a light pink color" - if you need the past perfect.
