Hello teachers !!!

I am surprise by the answer of this sentence is "founded"

This tree (be) was planted by the settlers who (found) our city over four hundred years ago.

I thought the Past Participle Verb Forms of find is "found" as in find, found, found. Why is there an "ed" after "found"

Thanks

The verb here is not 'to find', but 'to found', which means 'to establish' or 'to set up'.

The settlers didn't find the city — they founded (established) it.
