This is a photo of his skiing on Changbai Mountain.
This is a photo of him skiing on Changbai Mountain.

These two sentences are made by me and I think they are both correct and have the same meaning. Am I right?
 
"his skiing" would be attention to the form/style of skiing.
"him skiing" would be a focus on the person skiing.

Do you mean it's more natural to say this?

This is a video of his skiing on Changbai Mountain.
 
Not really, but if he had a distinctive style of skiing that ski fans would want to watch, his could be used.
