I heard someone say "This claim wasn't carved out to us" and "This calim will never be carved out to us". What does "carved out" mean? I may have misheard them. Please help.

It doesn't make sense. Either you misheard the sentences or the person who said them used the wrong word.

Tufguy, I would need more context to even guess at what was intended.

We tried sending a claim to an insurance company and they didn't receive it and apart from this that should not have been sent to them either. That needed to be sent to an another payer.

I don't know how you get "That claim wasn't carved out for us" from that. (I would have said, "Somebody really screwed up.")
