[Grammar] they're delivering or they will deliver?

Hi everyone.

I have this question in mind.

I believe these sentences are grammatically correct but I can't distinguish their difference/s and when to use them.

Are these correct?

1. Do you know when they're delivering the new carpet for the hotel lobby?

2. Do you know when they will deliver the new carpet for the hotel lobby?

I'm thinking about a future delivery but the sentence in the material says Sentence 1 but I think Sentence 2 is more appropriate, taking note of the future aspect of the delivery.

Why is it ok to use Sentence 1?
Is sentence 2 also appropriate?
When to use Sentences 1 and 2?

For me, 1 and 2 mean the same thing and elicit the same information - the expected date of delivery of the new carpet.

Thanks so much. However, the meaning of these two sentences are pretty clear to me too.

I think what I really meant to ask was more of the 'tenses' aspect of the sentences.

Why use 'they're delivering' instead of 'they will deliver'? Is there much significance?

Is there much significance?

No. The present continuous used for a future situation generally suggests than there is a present arrangement for that situation. 'Will' frequently suggests the speaker's certainty that the future situation will occur. In your sentence there is little practical difference between the two ideas.
