I saw this question in my friend’s thread post. It seems to have been shared by a English learner in Taiwan.

Which one is correct?

A: What____there behind the door?
B: ____two dogs.

1. is; There are
2. are; They are
3. is; They are
4. are; There are

The correct answer is 1, but I am wondering if we can use both 1 & 3 for this question.

Can anyone help?
