You mean both sentences?

1.There was a thin mist in the air, putting a halo around the streetlights.
2.The streetlights looked like webs of light.

What are some other words I can use?
 
Yes, but on second look I wouldn't say the mist put a halo around the streetlights. Instead, I would say a halo formed around around the streetlights. (Maybe I'm being picky, but then again maybe I'm not as picky as you are. :) )
