The violinist swished the bow

Are these correct and natural?

1. The violinist swished the bow before placing it on the violin. It was as if she was waving the magic wand because her performance was magical indeed.

2. The pianist was fluttering his fingers (I mean to say move them in air without a sound), getting ready to play the concerto. It was as if he was waving a magic wand.

3. The basketball player was stretching his right hand, moving it in air, waving the magic wand.

Honestly, I think that "magic wand" doesn't function in either of these three sentences.
I would rewrite the second sentence in this way.

2. The pianist flexed his fingers, getting ready for the concerto.

I am a non-native speaker.

The second seems too mundane to be like a magic wand- making music is magical, cracking your knuckles before playing, less so.
