[General] The meaning of "not above helping with the housework when necessary"

What is the meaning of the following sentence .

Mrs. Harrington was not above helping with the housework when necessary.
 
It means she would help with the housework. She did not believe that doing so was "beneath" her, too low of an activity for a person of her social standing.
