Here is a sentence:
My sister is grammatically oriented.

How is it possible to use an adverb "grammatically" after a linking verb? I suppose "grammatically" is not a predicate adjective. As far as I know linking verbs are always followed by adjectives.

(Not a Teacher)

"Is" links to "oriented" in this sentence, not "grammatically" which describes "oriented".

Adverbs can modify adjectives. That is the case here. Nouns can also follow linking verbs.

The word "follow" does not mean that it must be the very next word.

John is very tall. (proper noun - linking verb - adverb - adjective)
Bill is an old man. (proper noun - linking verb - indefinite article - adjective - noun)

Listen to Mike. He knows what he is talking about.
