Is this correct? Can I stylistically improve it?

The lavenders were rippling in the soft wind. Jane lay amid the field, the breeze caressing her face. The purple of the meadow merged with the purple of her blouse.

It looks like it says just what you want.
 
I don't like "amid the field". She was lying amid the flowers or stems of the lavender. If you want to use "the field", say "Jane lay in the middle of the field" or just "Jane lay in the field".
