Which is natural in English?

(1) The kid is too scared to come home.
(2) The kid is scared to come home.

The (2) is following the pattern "be scared to do it" and so I deem it is natural. But is the (1) natural, which has used the common structure of "...too...to"?

Both, but they don't mean the same thing.

[STRIKE]The (2) is following[/STRIKE] Sentence #2 follows the pattern "be scared to do something", [STRIKE]it"[/STRIKE] and so I [STRIKE]deem[/STRIKE] think it is natural. But is #1, (no the) [STRIKE]the (1) natural,[/STRIKE] which [STRIKE]has used the common structure of[/STRIKE] uses "...too...to" also natural?

(1) The kid is too scared to come home.
This suggests:
1- The kid is already scared (for whatever reason).
2- His/her level of fear is making him/her reluctant to go home.

(2) The kid is scared to come home.
This suggests that the kid is reluctant to go home because he/she is afraid something bad might happen if he/she does go home.
