He gave me a doll.

If we change the above sentence to a passive form, it will be...

1. I was given a doll by him.

2. A doll was given to me by him

What I'm wondering about is if it is possible to say

3. A doll was given me by him.

Also,

Is it grammatically correct to say

'4.I was brought a book by him'? - The passive form if He brought me a book.

Thank you so much - in advance.

You may hear #3 and #4, but they sound unnatural to me. #2 is grammatically OK, but #1 is far more natural.

1 is a standard irregular passive, 2 a standard regular passive (interestingly, less popular than the irregular). 3 and 4 are for informal use only.
