Is my sentence grammatically correct?

The doctor advised David he should abstain from drinking and smoking, or he would be risking a premature death.

It works for me.

I'd probably use "The doctor advised David to abstain ..."

or even "to stop drinking and quit smoking".

Pages are loading incredibly slowly in my current narrowband setting, and I think I saw an imaginary that in the sentence.

or even "to stop drinking and quit smoking".

I have been told that you can quit drinking too. I will get back to you if ever I try.

Thank you.
I found this sentence.

They advised him that the tour would proceed.

Is it different from your sentence above?
We don't advise someone (that) they do something.

Is a tour "someone"?
