Hello.

Is it correct to say "post-rain" air?

The afternoon rain slowed down. John stepped out to breathe in that fresh post-rain air.

If the rain only slowed down, it was still raining. Consequently, he wasn't out in post-rain air. If it stopped raining, you can say "The afternoon rain let up/stopped".

Okay. Is this correct?

The Friday afternoon rain had let up. John stepped out to breathe in that fresh, crsip post-rain air.

One of my favourite words is petrichor.

Actually, I love that smell! Is it just for rain? Sometimes when you wash the yard and water and dirt combine, you can feel it. Also, in my country, we have cooling devices that work with water. Water is used to wet the thatches and when you turn them on after a long time, due to dust being on the thatches, you can smell that pleasant smell.
Is there another word for that pleasant smell?
