Hi,

I wanted to ask what the correct sentence is when you want to thank someone for a task that has already been done by this person.
Would you say: "Thank you for having provided this" or "Thank you for providing this"?

Furthermore I was thinking that, when you ask someone to do something, you can say "thank you for providing this" but I wonder whether this is not arrogant because you already assume that this person will do so.

Many thanks in advance for your advice!

Kind regards,
Elke

"Thank you for providing this" is normal and natural.

You can use Thanking you in advance in a letter for something that has not yet happened.
