Years ago when I used a forum, we had a mod who's an old man. He's a bit "cruel". He deleted anything he saw unfit for the forum, and used harsh words like idiot to call some users. At first I didn't like him. But later I appreciated his work. He made the forum a good place for those who came to seek help.

I know I can say "The old mod rigorously moderated the forum." But it seems wrong to me to say "The mod was a rigorous man."

What word would you use to describe him, strict, rigorous, or another word?

Those are good words for that. Here are more for you to look up:

- demanding
- uncompromising
- a stickler
- relentless

I'll bet other folks here have more suggestions.

Thanks!

- The mod did a relentless moderation.

And,
-The mod was strict.

Do all of the above sentences sound natural to you?

They're all good except the fourth one.

His moderation was relentless.

Not really, no. Moderation isn't really a measurable thing. Moderators moderate. That's their job/role.

Could I say:

He put relentless effort into moderation.
