Hi,

I talked with a person today. He wanted to improve his English. He told me he had studied the language for three years. He said:

I am still struggling with my English after learning it for three years.

Is this sentence natural?

I guess so. I still struggle with English after almost 60 years!

The past tense would be appropriate if he were no longer studying the language, but that is apparently not the case.

This would be more natural: I'm still struggling with my English after studying it for three years.
