Hello,

What's the difference between "stem" and "stalk", if any?

The part that holds a flower is a stem or a stalk?

I looked up in a dictionary and I'm now more confused than ever. It says that a "stalk" is the main stem or the part that joins the leaves, fruit, etc to the main stem of the plant. Then a stalk is the main stem AND smaller stem at the same time?

Please help.
