1) You need to start work making our customers trust us again.
2) You need to get down to work making our customers trust us again.

3) You need to start work to make our customers trust us again.
4) You need to get down to work to make our customers trust us again.

Are all the above sentences correct?
Is there a difference between the meaning of the first pair and that of the second pair?

I think in '1' and '2' the work consists of making our customers trust us again.. It probably consists of contacting them and informing them of certain things that would make them trust us again, or something of the sort.
In the second two however, you do the work in order to make them trust us again. If you work, they'll trust us again.

I'd say:
You need to start to work on making our customers trust us again.
or
You need to start to regain our customers' trust.

Once you lose something like that it is very very hard to regain. Perhaps: "You need to work on regaining our customers' trust."

In any field there are always other people you can do business with.
