stamping / stomping ground

Hi,

Which one are you more inclined to say/write?

A- This part of town was my old stamping ground when I was a student here ten years ago.

B- This part of town was my old stomping ground when I was a student here ten years ago.

"Stomping" for me.

I've used both but believe stomping is more prevalent here in Canada. We also tend to favour grounds over ground.
