Hello,

I want to know how many of the following sentences are correct.

1) She not only wants to take a trip to Europe but also to take a trip to Asia.

2) She wants not only to take a trip to Europe but also to take a trip to Asia.

3) She wants to take a trip not only to Europe but also to Asia.

4) She wants not only to take a trip to Europe but also to Asia.

5) She not only wants to take a trip to Europe but also to Asia.

Thank you in advance.

They are all grammatically correct.

I'd use #5.

I'd use #3. I would definitely not use #4 or #5, but I am old-fashioned about where I put (not) only.

So #3 is old-fashioned and #4 and #5 are modern? Can we say that #3 is more formal?

Another question which I'm eager to know it is about adding a different verb after but also. See the below example:

She not only wants to take a trip to Europe but also likes to travel to Asia.

Is it wrong? (I think the answer is yes) but if it is, how can I keep the second part of the above sentence (I mean= Likes to travel) along with "but also?"
