I've never seen a puzzle like this before - possibly because of the problem of framing the question. However, if you like the concept, you could give a detailed explanation, and example, to your students once:

Example: Two sentences from the following four use a word in a certain way, and the other two sentences use the same word with a different meaning. In this example, the word is "saw"
1. I saw a boy
2. I bought a saw.
3. A carpenter uses a saw.
4. The dog saw the man
You must pair the sentences which use the word with similar meanings. In this example, the pairs are (1, 4) and (2, 3) because in 1 and 4, "saw" is a verb, and in 2 and 3, "saw" is a noun. Questions of this type will read: "Match the sentences with the word "word" of similar meaning."
