"It's been a while since I was waiting for this trip": is this sentence acceptable or would a Present Perfect Continuous be more appropriate here?

Neither tense/aspect works in this sentence. You can use either in these:

I've waited/been waiting for this trip for a long time.
I've waited/been waiting for this trip since January.

Thanks for your reply

"It's been a while since I was waiting for this trip."

Is this that/the/my sentence acceptable or would a the present perfect continuous be more appropriate here?
Note my changes above. I recommend that you use "this" or "the following" in a sentence that comes before the example sentence, but "that/the/my" if it comes after the example sentence.
