In the following sentence: Those students who stay out of school do ___ for different reasons
should I use "it" in the blank or should "it" be omitted? Why? Thank you for explanation.

You can use it. I would use so. You can't use the sentence with nothing in the blank.
 
You can use it. I would use so. You can't use the sentence with nothing in the blank.

Thank you very much. So there can be a "it" and "so" in the blank and so is preferable,right?
