This might have been asked before, but what's the actual difference between ESL and TEFL? If I Google "ESL jobs" or "TEFL jobs" I get different results, but are these types of jobs actually the same?

ESL, EFL, TESL, TEFL, TESOL, ESOL

Thanks, I feel stupid now - RTFL right! :)

There is no need to feel stupid - people in the business misuse them horribly. My favourites are:

1. I got my TEFL last year. They didn't. They got their TEFL certificate.
2. Is my TEFL as good as a CELTA? . See #1.
3. I teach TEFL. They almost cetainly teach EFL.
4. I prefer TEFL to TESOL. Yes, and they probably prefer courgettes to zucchini.

Yeah right, a woman on Yahoo Answers was suggesting people to get their "ESL". :-D
