Recently, in a thread I posted (link below), someone pointed out that towards is preferable to to in such sentences...
What I now want to ask is: If I add back, does this still apply? For example, in my sentence below.
He turned his gaze elsewhere in shame. She placed her index finger on his chin and turned his head back to/back towards herself.
He turned his brother's head to him(self).
Source: I wrote this sentence. Context: Someone is holding his brother's corpse in his arms. He turned his brother's head to him/himself. His eyes were lifeless. I'm not sure which pronoun is correct here. Any help?
