Let's imagine that a female writer first tells her readers about a funny situation. Then she adds a rhetorical question.
Is it possible to say that she follows her statements with a rhetorical question?

To me it sounds odd, I'd prefer to say: These statements are followed by a r. question.

Yes, it's possible. It depends on the context.

No that's no good. There's no such thing as "a r. question" in English.

Thank you.
The thing is that I cannot find the expression "to follow sth. with" in my dictionaries (Longman, Cambridge Dictionary). So I wasn't sure whether it is possible to use it.
Sorry about the abbreviation I used - it was just meant to shorten the sentence here.

"She published a book of poems and followed it (up) with (= next produced) a novel".
from the Cambridge Dictionary.
