In recent years, there has been a lot of pressure on colleges to admit a larger number of applicants from minority groups, even if some of these students are weaker.

Hello Beachboy,

It is the same in France, the high school must admit youngs that come from what people call the minority. There no percentage, but the French government wants to share the number of place because a lot of time the cost of the ticket entrance is too high for poor.

I wanted to know if they are called shares in English... I´ve looked it up, but couldn´t find...
 
I agree, I think you are looking for the word "quota."
