Shabby hair

Hi guys,

Please check. If a person has shabby or untidy hair(not combed), what would you say to him like "Manage your hair or stroke your hair". I mean what can we say?

(You do realize we don't go up to adults and tell them to do things like this, right? You might say to a friend "You might want to run a brush through your hair" or "You might want to comb your hair" or more subtly "Do you need to borrow my comb?")

Shaggy can't be fixed with a comb. You need scissors.

Messy hair can be fixed with a brush or a comb, or the hair might need to be washed. Note that in BrE, we wouldn't say "straighten your hair". That would mean that we were suggesting that person use electric hair straighteners to take the curl/wave out of their hair. These are hair straighteners.
