I'm confused as to whether participle phrases are considered to be dependent clauses in SFG.

For instance, I would analyse the following as consisting of 1 independent clause, followed by 2 dependent clauses.

(1) Jimmy is studying history, planting seeds in the garden and helping out at the voluntary center.

I know the above sentence doesn't make sense, but I was confused because in the instance of participle phrases, the subject is elliptical.

What's SFG?

I don't know what SFG is, but traditionally, phrases are not considered clauses.
