1)Being occupied with the work, I didn’t get time to talk to her.
Is being necessary?
Occupied with the work, I didn’t get time to talk to her.
2) It being a small cot, he couldn’t sleep on it.
Is it OK to rephrase this sentence in the following way
Having a small cot, he couldn’t sleep on it.
3) The dog having bitten the postman, the farmer decided to shoot it.
Is it the "nominative absolute construction". If yes, would the following sentence be correct?
The dog bite the postman, the farmer decided to shoot it.
4) Being a child he didn't like to study. /Is this sentence wrong? Should it be: "When he was a child he didn't like to study." ?
