Clearly, we’ll want you to sign a contract-- please analyse this sentence

'Analyse' is a rather vague term: do you require simple parsing or a full phrasal/clausal analysis?

For the time being, I'll assume from the format that your interest is primarily in the word 'clearly', which is an adverb (or more precisely, in this case, an adverbial disjunct).

Hi syednasir,

Here is a diagram of your sentence; I'm 99% sure that it is correct.

Hello, Syednasir:

I have good news: I notice that Mr. Antonson has returned to posting. Hopefully, he will soon post a diagram of your sentence.

I do not know how to post diagrams, so I can only use some clumsy words:

1. "Clearly" in your sentence -- as the other posters told you -- is a sentence adverb. It modifies the whole sentence.

So it should be placed on a horizontal line above the whole sentence.

2. "you to sign a contract" is a so-called infinitive phrase. It is the direct object of "want." There are two different

ways to diagram it. As I said, I cannot post a diagram to show you and it is impossible to explain in words.

Let's hope that Mr. Antonson soon helps us.

James
