Hi, everyone. I'm especially not sure about the bold parts. Please help.
Self-driving cars will help businesses reduce operating costs. This is because with these cars, they/businesses don’t need to hire drivers to deliver their products or services to their customers anymore.

You're right to be cautious about pronouns.

In this case, we know "they" refers to businesses because businesses hire and cars don't.

So either word is fine. No one will be confused or misled if you use "they."
