‘Roman letters’ and ‘Latin letters’ are the same thing?

I've not heard of either!

Roman numerals - yes. Latin numerals - no.

I am not a teacher.

Yes, from the Roman alphabet or Latin alphabet, but I think "Roman alphabet" is usual, because "romanization" is a better word than "latinization".

 Also, the ISO has defined a number of typefaces called 'ISO-Latin-N'.

PS ... but then again there's 'Times New Roman'; I don't know if Times New Roman conforms to the ISO-Latin-1 spec. It feels a bit to me like a sort of unofficial translation, like Interleaf's 'Swiss' typeface, which was almost indistinguishable from Helvetica - but just different enough for Interleaf to avoid paying royalties!
