Subject: health problems the students face
Date: 27 September, 2022
Introduction
I represent the student body and I have been asked to compile a report on the most presing healthcare problems the students are facing. My assistants and I have carried out an anonymous poll among the students of various departments and years (200 respondents). We have also organised a public discussion on this matter. I make you informed of the results of this survey, minority opinions being discarded.
Accessibility
About 55% of the respondents mentioned problems with admissions. Doctors are overburdened, and the nearest slot may be found usually not closer than in about two weeks.
The health centre is always overcrowded. 40% of the respondents pointed out that despite the prior appointment system, the time is never observed. Usually a doctor admits you about 40 minutes later than yout appointed time.
31% of respondents are not satisfied with vaccination. The GPs usually can not prescribe vaccination, that is why they redirect students to the infectionist. The only infectionist is always booked solid.
Affordability
76% of students are troubled by the fact that not all treatment is done for free. The most expenses are inflicted when consulting a dantist.
Quarentine room
87% of those living in the dormitory are disappointed with the lack of quarantine rooms. Their opinion is that in any case of a respiratory disease, the infected person should be isolated. But nowadays there are no quarantine rooms.
Specialists and equipment
75% of women-students mention that the busiest specialists are gynaecologists, they always have the longest waiting lists (approximately 3 weeks).
37% of respondents marked the absence of a surgeon.
85% of students consider diagnostics as a problem of primary importance. During the public discussoin, it was generally agreed that the students may as well do without hi-tech diagnostics, but ordinary lab tests, x-rais, or ultra-sound are not easy to get (queues, inconvenient time, and often necessity to apply to other laboratories).
Recommendations
We recommend that quarantine rooms shuld be allocated in the dormitory. The improvement of the laboratory and providing the health care centre with more diagnostic equipment is the top priority. If funds available, hiring more specialists may be highly recommended.
