Hi guys',

what does "remembered" mean?

"I remembered something"

1) It came to my mind when I was doing something or 2) It was already in my mind".

What does your dictionary say under "remember"?

Sorry I didn't get you. Does it mean to come suddenly in mind if so then what would be the word for thing that was already in my mind?

What is the definition in your dictionary when you look up the verb "remember"?

It means to recall.

And do you know what that means?

But we also say "I remembered that(that was in my mind) so I did that".

But we also say "I remembered that(that was already in my mind) so I did something".

NOT A TEACHER
I think what he meant is whether "remember" in that sentence is a stative verb meaning "to have a picture of something in mind" or an active verb meaning "to recall information".
It can mean either, in my opinion. More clues are needed to decide which sense it means.

Okay, as far as I have understod. It means both 1) To have in mind 2) To recall or bring in your mind. But instead of remember can we also say "I had that thing in my mind so I did that"?
