Hi all,

is this a reduced form of relative clause in passive sentence ?

' Numerous palmar pits were seen, each flesh- or red coloured and measuring 1–3 mm in diameter '

is this the original complete form ?
' Numerous palmar pits were seen, which is each flesh- or red coloured and measuring 1–3 mm in diameter

sentence around # 15

from : Multiple palmar pits and basal cell carcinomas -- Pereyra-Rodrguez et al., 10.1503/cmaj.090884 -- Canadian Medical Association Journal

How to reduce relative clause in passive sentence ?

thanks

each (being)...

There is no reduced relative here. Anyway, only non-defining relatives can be reduced. We have a reduced adverbial tenseless (non-finite) clause, which is syntactically detached from the main clause. It lacks that parity (= structural equality) which we see as criterial with clause constituents.
