[Grammar] rack their brain

Are the following sentences grammatically correct?

1. Due to economic environment was very poor, even the school held events or anniversary celebrations, school teachers had to rack their brains to use of the available materials to arrange contest facilities.
2. Therefore, they devised the game of “crawling through the ladder.”
3. As shown in the picture, the school’s first year students with a conical hat crawled through the ladder which was laid flat.
