[Grammar] punctuation and brackets

Could you please tell me which is the appropriate way of using punctuation?
Also, are the round brackets used appropriately in this context?


1) Changing your computer settings is not necessary. (Some exceptions may apply.)
2) Changing your computer settings is not necessary (Some exceptions may apply.).

The brackets aren't necessary but if you want to use them, I would use your first construction. The second is incorrect because there is no full stop after "necessary" yet you have then capitalised the opening word inside the brackets. You have also put two full stops at the end.
