Did I [STRIKE]you[/STRIKE] use the word "proverbial" right/ correctly or [STRIKE]it[/STRIKE] doesn't it make sense in the context?
You could also say '. . .the proverbial nail in the coffin' (I prefer this version).

Quite. One is enough.At first, I thought about using two "proverbial", in front of nail and coffin, but that seemed plain silly.
