As evidence mounted, all of it damning, Chinese prosecutors even paraded in experts who heightened the drama by displaying heaps of skulls on the courtroom table.

I understand "prosecutors even paraded in experts" as "prosecutors even called in experts to parade". Am I on the right track? Some nuance appears to be hiding there.

No. There's no real parade involved. The use of the word here is purely figurative.
It means "to exhibit ostentatiously".

Yes. It's like telling your audience "Take a look at what I've got here!".
 
What does "in experts" mean? Also figuratively and ostentatiously?
 
Since you have clearly read the entire sentence, you know that took place in a courtroom. Do you know what a prosecutor is? Do you know what expert testimony is?
