Hello All,
I was learning vocabulary and found word as "Hustle" which pronunciation as "Husul" why "t" is silent ? how we know silent characters in English. It will be good if you provide some link that guides me.:)

Farrukhkamran, I have changed this thread title and the one about 'dizzy'.

Extract from the Posting Guidelines:

'Thread titles should include all or part of the word/phrase being discussed.'

Similarly, the "t" is silent in "castle", "rustle", "bustle" and "thistle".

And "listen, glisten, fasten ...
The challenge is thinking of a '-stle,-sten' word that does pronounce the 't'.

Another way of checking the pronunciation of a word is to use Forvo. Choose English from the list of languages then type the word you're searching for into the search box. You will then get a list of recordings to listen to. Each one shows the English variant spoken by the person who recorded the word.

I don't pronounce the t in any of them
