Could you please help me explain the meaning of following sentence:

This is a profound game changer, one that sends a ripple through the entire medical community.

Many thanks for your time and help.

***** NOT A TEACHER *****

Hello, Yuheci:

(1) Here is an example of a game changer.

(a) Some nurses have additional training and certificates of competence. Some people want to let these "super nurses" be

addressed as "Dr." Of course, most physicians (doctors) are not happy about this suggestion. People work very hard to become

physicians, so they are very proud of the title "doctor." If we patients could also address some nurses as "doctors," that would

be a profound (deep) game changer in the American medical community, for "doctor" is a very prestigious title. Furthermore, these

physicians say that calling nurses "doctors" will confuse us. Maybe we will forget that a nurse "doctor" can never know as much as

a doctor "doctor"! (P.S. We Americans also address dentists as "doctors." I hear that this is NOT the situation in the United

Kingdom.")

HAVE A NICE DAY!

And some nurses are doctors ;-)

Another example would be that the iPod was a game changer for the music industry.
