What's the bold text mean? Is it an idiom?

Okay, if Gen knows you and you wanna press your nose up against the glass and take a few notes. I don't really care. But you'll have a hard sell with the parents.

Yes, it is an expression that means to take a closer look.

If you were passing by a store and saw something wonderful in the display window, you might lean into the window to get a better view. Your nose might be pressed against the glass.
